Making and taking calls

Your direct line works the way a phone line always has. This is the short version of what is different about answering it in Wayline.

Where calls ring

An incoming call rings in two places at once:

  • The Wayline app on your phone, if you have it installed.
  • Any browser tab you have open at app.wayline.com.

Answer wherever you happen to be. If you have not set up your phone yet, start with Get the Wayline app on your phone, and say yes when it asks about notifications. Without that permission your phone stays silent on an incoming call.

Answering

When a call comes in you get Accept and Decline. Accept picks it up wherever you are. Decline passes it on to whatever your account does with an unanswered call.

While you are on a call you can mute yourself and hang up from the call panel.

Making a call

Open the conversation with the person you want and dial from there. The call goes out as your own number, so residents and owners see the line they already know rather than an unfamiliar one.

Calls you do not answer

What happens next depends on how your account is set up. In most setups Wayline takes the call the way a receptionist would: it notes who called and what they need, records the interaction, and creates a follow-up task for the person whose line was dialled.

Your Wayline contact can tell you exactly what your account does, and it can be changed if it is not what your team wants.

Recordings

Calls are recorded and transcribed, both inbound and outbound. The recording is attached to the call in your Inbox, and to any task the call creates, so you can always go back to what was actually said.
